truMedic TENS Unit Review and Giveaway

truMedic TENS Unit

The winner has been chosen! Congratulations Kelly, we hope you love your truMedic TENS unit!

Since the start of 2016, I have been studying electricity and its relationship to healing. You can read what we have shared so far in this post. I was thrilled when truMedic contacted us about doing a product review and giveaway for a TENS unit! I knew these types of machines were commonly used by physical therapists, and coincidently my chiropractor had recently added TENS to her practice. I could deduce what the benefits are by how they are used, but I honestly didn’t know much.

TENS = Transcutaneous Electrical Nerve Stimulation

It is a form of electrotherapy that is designed to stimulate your muscles and nerves to maximize blood flow and recovery. It can help strengthen your muscles and help deal with chronic or occasional pain. High frequency electronic pulses are designed to relieve pain and reduce stress.

truMedic TENS Unit Pulse Massager Model PL – 009

This model is designed for portability, convenience, and accessibility. It is extremely safe and easy to operate and has pre-set massage programs with specific benefits for each muscle group. There are a variety of other settings that offer adjustable speed and intensity so you can customize your experience.

truMedic TENS unit placement

The placement of the pads can bring about different effects and have different benefits. You can place them directly on or around tight or painful joints, use them on the forearms for carpal tunnel, give your abdominal muscles a workout, get a massage on the tops and bottoms of your feet, and use on tight shoulders, hips, and thighs.

You should plan on using the TENS Unit Pulse Massager for about 15 minutes per area at least once per day. Anything less might not give you the relief, and anything more won’t provide exponential results. This is easy to do when relaxing with a good book or your favorite TV program.

The truMedic Tens Unit Pulse Massager Model PL – 009 is very safe to use and operate. However, it is NOT suitable for people who have implanted defibrillator or implanted metallic devices. There is a short list of health conditions that would require you checking with your doctor before using. These conditions are listed in the product instruction booklet provided with the unit or can be found on truMedic.com.

4 AAA batteries are needed to run this unit. The frequencies cover a range of 1-100Hz via a monophasic waveform. This unit comes with reusable pads that will need to be replaced as they lose their ability to adhere to the skin. These can easily and economically be replaced by ordering from the truMedic website.

How to decide if you need a TENS unit

I LOVE receiving massage and bodywork, and I LOVE this TENS unit! I figured I would like this unit, but I am honestly very impressed how well it has already provided relief to areas of pain and discomfort that can build up around my lower back and hips.

If body aches and pains nag at you, then you want this machine. Here is why my chiropractor Dr. Michel uses TENS: “The TENS unit sends pain free impulses to the nerves beneath the skin, interrupting the pain signals being sent to the brain. After applying TENS the brain and body are in a more relaxed state. I find this therapy is a great compliment before the chiropractic adjustment. For home care I recommend ten units for certain patients to reduce pain as an alternative to painkillers.”

I’ve got serious back problems that I see a chiro for and he uses a TENS unit on me. I’d enjoy having one at home to relieve the pain.

Since the late 80s I’ve been working on relieving tension and pain in my right shoulder and neck. It’s gotten so extreme at times that my head will get “stuck” at a weird angle. Massage helps. Acupuncture has helped. Chiropractic and stretching helps. It’d also help to totally change my lifestyle and line of work but do t think that can happen.
Problem with massage and chiropractic is that I can’t do it often enough to have the effect hold for any longterm period. It’s intriguing to think about what might happen if I were able to work on it daily.

Would my migraines go away? Would I finally have full range of motion with my neck again? Would love to find out.

I need one to give to my father who has had numerous back surgeries and has had pain in his back for years. I would love to give him something to ease his pain since he stopped his pain meds recently which were altering his moods.
