Stem cell technology, part one.

Stem cell ads are popping up everywhere. If you know anyone that has had reason to see a doctor specializing in orthopedic or regenerative medicine then you may have heard about something called PRP. There is a lot of misinformation out there, and we had to get to the bottom of it. We’ve learned a lot and can’t wait to share it with you! Read on!

Stay hydrated, stay efficient

A hydrated mind

Many people are so used to being dehydrated, that they no longer recognize the normal signal of thirst. Any loss of water equaling 2-3% of our body weight will begin to affect performance adversely.

Water is required for everything from regulating blood pressure and body temperature to making sure your heart works correctly and that your brain is capable of doing its daily tasks. Loss of 4-5% of body weight in water results in reduced carrying capacity of the blood for nutrients (to the brain), as well as reduced ability to remove heat from the body. If you don’t stay hydrated you will be more susceptible to “brain fog”.

A hydrated body

The human body is full of water, your muscles and your brain are about 75% water, your blood is about 82% water, your skin is made up of about 70% water, and your bones are about 25% water.

In addition to helping your body maintain a stable temperature, staying hydrated — ideally by drinking water every 15 minutes or so during sporting events — helps keep your muscles strong and active. Water helps your body transport oxygen to your muscles, which means they are also more efficient during physical labor.

If your body is not hydrated, it doesn’t work efficiently. Even mild dehydration will slow down one’s metabolism as much as 3%. Slower metabolism means more fat stored and less used as fuel for your body.

Why do people go on a cleanse?

Why do people go on a cleanse or a detox? When is it legit, when is it hype? Do most do it because it sounds sexier, cooler, trendier, and healthier than going on a “diet”? People who follow a program of strict or clean eating, or sometimes non-eating, and eventually return to their normal, unhealthier patterns, make a cleanse look more like a good old fashion weight loss diet.

Why you shouldn’t eat breakfast or eat before a workout.

Dr. Mercola keeps posting articles on this subject, and it has me tickled pink because although this is what I have done intuitively for over 20 years, it goes against what almost all health professionals claim, which is: eat breakfast, it should be your biggest meal of the day.

PEMF is a Pulsed Electromagnetic Field and it’s good for your health

PEMF

Get ready, this is a longer post than we usually do, but most people have not heard of PEMF. We hadn’t either until recently. We are amazed at what we have learned, and excited to share this therapy. PEMF stands for Pulsed ElectroMagnetic Field. A PEMF device sends a magnetic pulse that emits a three dimensional magnetic field into the body. This helps to re-energize the cells by inducing electrical changes within them, which restores the cells to a more normal and healthier state.

truMedic TENS Unit Review and Giveaway

truMedic TENS Unit

The winner has been chosen! Congratulations Kelly, we hope you love your truMedic TENS unit!

Since the start of 2016, I have been studying electricity and its relationship to healing. You can read what we have shared so far in this post. I was thrilled when truMedic contacted us about doing a product review and giveaway for a TENS unit! I knew these types of machines were commonly used by physical therapists, and coincidently my chiropractor had recently added TENS to her practice. I could deduce what the benefits are by how they are used, but I honestly didn’t know much.

Folic acid. What you need to know.

Our genes naturally program the creation of tens of thousands of proteins and enzymes telling each of our 70 trillion cells what to do. The MTHFR gene specifically codes for an enzyme called methylenetetrahydrofolate reductase. This enzyme (also known as MTHFR) depends on folate or folic acid to function, and also influences folate activity in the body.

What is the difference between Kefir and Yogurt?

difference between kefir and yogurt

What is the difference between kefir and yogurt? Yogurt is produced by a fermentation process using bacteria, and kefir is produced by a fermentation process using bacteria and yeast. If you have ever tasted any kind of kefir, you notice it is in more of a liquid state compared to yogurt, and has a kind of a bubbly sensation similar to champagne.
