Buying & Taking Supplements Series #5-8. Check for these 4 things before you purchase

5. Check the color of your capsule or tablet. Are you taking supplements that are bright pink, shocking purple, brilliant blue, neon yellow, or florescent green? Ask yourself, and the company, what makes those so bright? It is more than likely an artificial color or dye. Companies do this to make their pills look more appealing. This is counter-productive when you are purchasing products under the assumption you are putting health supportive ingredients into your body. Your goal is to eliminate harmful chemicals and unnecessary ingredients from your diet. There is no place for FD&C RED #3, FD&C BLUE #1, FD&C Yellow #6, and so on, in a quality supplement! These dyes are toxic substances, so much so that the European Union has placed regulations on labeling products that contain them. So far, the United States does not require this.

Buying & Taking Supplements Series #9-12. Be mindful and educated about vitamins.

9. Be mindful to follow recommended doses. Especially when the product has iron, or vitamin A. Vitamin A in the form of anything besides beta carotene, the form of vitamin A found in food, can be toxic at high doses.

10. Choose a B Complex over a single B. If you read or hear something great about one of the B vitamins and are compelled to go out and purchase it, buy a B Complex instead. This will give you a daily balance of all of the B vitamins, which work together synergistically in your body. This will help prevent any imbalances from occurring in the long run.

Need an altitude or attitude adjustment? How to fortify the body in times of stress.

Running up a few flights of stairs can leave me winded; bounding up endless flights of monastery stairs at 12,000 feet altitude is a whole ‘nother story. My husband and I lead tours to India, including the Tibetan plateau of Ladakh nestled high in the Himalayas. On our last trip we drove over one of the world’s highest motorable passes, Khardung La at 17,582 feet. How in the world does one prepare the body for such a shift? With Adrenal Health that’s how!

I’ll admit it—I love supplements! Use as an “insurance policy”, to expedite healing & rebalance the body.

I’ll admit it—I love supplements. One look in my medicine cabinet (or kitchen cabinets, or pantry, or purse, or desk…) and you’d know it’s true. It’s not that I have a thing for colorful labels or that my favorite hobby is swallowing pills; I use supplements both as an “insurance policy” and a targeted way to expedite healing.

A few weeks later I was beat! Everything had caught up with me and I needed to kick start my immune system. I felt so run down and sleep wasn’t helping enough. I knew I needed to try some supplements & vitamins.
