Giveaway: Let’s Dance!

Congratulations Jean and Julia! You both have earned a copy of In Rhythm With Your Soul with your awesome answers! Thank you for entering!

I grew up a dancer. Both of my parents were very well known in the world of ballet, tap, jazz, and musical theater. Naturally, it is in my DNA. I made a living into my early 30’s working as a dancer, choreographer, and teacher.  The evolution of that career turned me into a personal trainer and yoga instructor, which I still do today, in my early 40’s.

Movement and music are an essential part of my life. Whether I was performing and rehearsing, choreographing, or teaching an aerobics class, or these days when I am bouncing on my rebounder, teaching or taking a yoga class, or listening to my headphones on a power walk or jog – there is always an element of dance in what I do.

I try to instill in my students and clients (whether they realize it or not) the importance of movement and listening to your body and your soul. There are so many ways to “exercise” or move, there really is something for everyone!

In Rhythm With Your Soul by Pollyanna Blanco is a great book if you are a dancer of any age, whether you love to dance, or love to watch dance. If music moves you, or you are interested in energy and chakras in a similar way you would be aware of those things through a yoga or meditation practice, this book is for you.

This is also a great book if you are a “closet dancer”. It can help inspire you to gather the courage to “let go” and let your inner dancer shine through. If you are in the creative or expressive arts, or need to call upon your creativity for various parts of your career or hobbies, this is a “must read” for you too.

Tell us your dance story in the comments below, by doing so, you will automatically be entered in this giveaway.  Two people will be chosen to receive a copy of In Rhythm With Your Soul. While living inChicago in the 70s, while my new husband went to school, I took dance lessons “downtown”, once a week for a year. I learned….to be embarrassed. My peers were all much better than me. But I loved to dance. Now in my 60’s I have a trainer and wrk out 4 x a week. My trainer giggles when he taps me on my shoulder while I listen to my exercise music and do my cardio warmup. I might be briskly walking on a treadmill, however, in my mind I am dancing! I love to dance! The positive energy surrounding me while I move, is my strength.

As an expressive artist, I delight in exploring the metaphoric aspects of the body/mind connection and its multi-modal healing and self-insight powers. “…imagine for a moment that the body informs the soul… Suppose, as in fairy tales of the shape changers, the body is a God in its own right, a teacher, a mentor, a certified guide?” (Clarissa Pinkola Estes). Pollyanna Blanco’s book, “In Ryhthm with Your Soul”, sounds like a lovely invitation to dance with my daimons. I sense it offers another intriguing portal for seeking the deepest levels of one’s physical, emotional and thinking body. How freeing!
