Drying and crushing nutrient dense greens, such as spinach, kale and collards, into your own DIY greens powder, is a great way to add an extra boost of vitamins and minerals into your diet. It can be difficult, especially at this time of year, to eat enough green leafy vegetables and this powder can be added to stews, stir-fries, sauces, smoothies and even scrambled eggs.
DIY Greens Powder Directions
The best way to make supergreens powder is to wash, de-rib the leaves and place in a dehydrator until completely dried and crispy. Crush the leaves into a powder and then store in an airtight container.
It is also possible to place leaves arranged on cookie sheets in your oven on the lowest temperature. If using your oven, it is important to check after 20 minutes and every 5-10 minutes thereafter. If greens are left in the oven too long they will have an off flavor that will overpower any food they are added to.
