What to look for when buying Resveratrol.

Although resveratrol occurs naturally in grapes (especially Muscadine), nuts and other fruits, buying resveratrol as a supplement means that it is extracted from the herb Polygonum cuspidatum. The resveratrol from Polygonum cuspidatum is just like that of grapes and other sources of resveratrol, but unfortunately, Polygonum cuspidatum is known to be a toxic herb when consumed over time.

Electricity and Healing

Electricity has been used in medicine since the days of the Romans. Electric torpedo fish were used for pain relief. Later, the electrostatic violet ray invented by Nikola Tesla, took the place of the fish. Nikola Tesla was the great genius who observed that high frequency electricity had significant benefits for health.

You are drinking the wrong wine!

wine

There are practices in wine making that I had no idea about. Although I really like it, I’m not an everyday wine drinker like some of my friends. I have always been interested in the health benefits, as well as the historical and spiritual benefits. My perception of wine making was always a natural one – a vineyard of rolling hills, hand picked and foot squished grapes, and farmhouses filled with oak barrels of fermenting grape juice.

Should you eat nuts and seeds?

nuts and seeds

Raw, organic nuts (make sure they are raw and organic!) are a great source of healthy, unsaturated fats, fiber, vitamins, antioxidants and plant sterols. Many doctors will recommend nuts as a heart healthy snack food, as evidence has shown that people who eat nuts and seeds have higher overall health, are less likely to suffer from cardiovascular issues, and have less incidence of diabetes.

PEMF is a Pulsed Electromagnetic Field and it’s good for your health

PEMF

Get ready, this is a longer post than we usually do, but most people have not heard of PEMF. We hadn’t either until recently. We are amazed at what we have learned, and excited to share this therapy. PEMF stands for Pulsed ElectroMagnetic Field. A PEMF device sends a magnetic pulse that emits a three dimensional magnetic field into the body. This helps to re-energize the cells by inducing electrical changes within them, which restores the cells to a more normal and healthier state.

When bad foods become really bad

Making decisions about what foods to consume when it comes to our health, can be very simple, yet extremely complicated at the same time. Knowing the really good foods from the really bad foods becomes especially important when choosing foods for specific reasons like disease prevention, or treatment.

Tight Junctions. Get in the know!

tight junctions

The brain-gut connection is no longer folklore. The gut is a viable second brain that links digestion, mood, health, and thought processes. Discover a revolutionary new understanding of tight junctions, the connection between two adjacent cells that are so close the space is almost non-existent. These junctions are how cells communicate and can be the biggest connections or disconnections of the mind-body/brain-gut relationship.

The cabbage family and your health

cabbage family

Considered one of the most ancient common vegetables, cabbage is also one of the most economical and healthiest vegetables today. Although cabbage is technically a biennial herb of the mustard family, centuries of cultivation have produced other forms of the cabbage family that we are familiar with such as kale, kohlrabi, cauliflower, broccoli, and Brussels sprouts.

Cartilage, collagen, and chondrocytes.

Let’s have a quick lesson on joint health and cartilage to help keep away the pain and stiffness commonly associated with aging.

Cartilage building cells are called chondrocytes. As we age, chondrocyte activity slows down and eventually fails to adequately compensate for the daily wear and tear placed on the joint. But don’t let that discourage you, and don’t give up on your joints!

What is an Alkaline Diet? Nicole describes in her own words:

Have you heard the word alkaline often? I have been hearing it more and more. I’ve seen the same massage therapist since I was 14 years old who is also a Naturopathic Physician (so I get lots of great advice when getting a massage!). She has always spoke about the body being alkalized and how she believes that prevents cancer in her opinion. I felt that I had a pretty alkalized diet (lots of greens, not much meat, no sugar or caffeine) so I was on the right track there. That’s about all I knew!

What is Vitamin D? Where do you get it? Could you be deficient?

Did you know Vitamin D is not really a “vitamin”, it is more like a hormone. Our bodies produce it when the sun’s rays react with cholesterol after being absorbed by your skin. So what happens when you avoid the sun, live in a northern climate, or use a daily dose of sunscreen? No sun rays are absorbed, which means no Vitamin D is produced. Most hormone levels decline as we age, and the same is true for Vitamin D production.
